April 2007

Learning By Degrees

Easter and Passover!! What a beautiful time of the year. Of course, it's also tax time! But for what we get, the price is reasonable.

We have had a busy month in March, with an EA Degree, a Master Mason Degree and a visit from our District Deputy Grand Master. All of our events were well attended and everyone had a chance ot participate and enjoy themselves.

We are going to have  Fellowcraft Degree on April 5, 2007 and we will meet again on the 26th. We might have a degree on that night. Our instructors and our new candidates are working hard. What a joy it is.

Brother Jacko Herrera is our newest Master Mason. We welcome him and his family to our lodge and we hope they will join in all of our activities.

We were honored to place a picture of MW Joseph Shurette in our Lodge room on the night of our District Deputy's visit. MW Shurette was our Grand Master in 1988. He has been a member of our Lodge for a long time and we are honored to have his portrait in our Lodge. It was a great night.

The following members of our lodge have over fifty years in Masonry:

Enos W. Brown James Leonard Browning
Randal K. Chastain James Conger
Andrew Crivello, Jr. Ralph Early
Leo Enterline Zeddie Evans
Raymond Gallant William Griffiths
Sydney Handks William Henderson
WIlliam Hydo John McMath
Ralph Miles Leonard Snowball

So Mote It Be

Every Time I Tie the Strings

Every time I tie the strings

I think of all the subtle things:

Of Brothers' smiles and grips so firm

O Brothers' words that reaffirm,

Of friendships made in lodge rooms there,

Of Brothers I know really care.

No matter when, no matter where,

I know that they are always there;

No matter far or even near,

To whisper counsel in my ear.

They will always have my love

Till called to the Great Lodge up above,

This is why my heart sings

Every time I tie the strings.

Brother Richard D. Berry, Jr.
